This post comes from my son. Personally, I am a tea drinker. However, this recipe can easily be modified for those like me that prefer to tote tea. I would probably choose to use hot water and almond milk. In addition, if I were to write this recipe, stevia or honey would be substituted for the sugar and a non dairy milk used. (FYI, not all essential oils are approved for internal consumption. I only ingest Young Living essential oils because I am certain of their GRAS status and “seed to seal” purity.)
For all you coffee lovers!
“I always love the seasonal drinks at Starbucks, but did you know a Peppermint Mocha Latte there involves four (4) pumps of processed sugary syrups? To mix up a healthier holiday treat in the comfort of my own home I used some common baking supplies, coffee, milk, and Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil to get my seasonal coffee fix on the cheap.”
In a large (14 oz or bigger) mug combine the following:
———————–
-1 scant 1/2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder (I use dark)
-1 heaping 1/2 tsp sugar (vary to taste, I tend towards very lightly sweetened)
-1 drop peppermint oil
-pour 8-10 oz hot coffee over the above
-stir gently
-add ~2-3 oz milk (you may want to partially heat the milk first, amount milk also varies to taste)
-give it one last stir and enjoy!
