(Taken from my personal journal entry on March 22, 2013)
I saw my first robin of spring yesterday. It made my heart beat faster. My whole being became excited and uplifted. Little robin did you hear me call out, “Hello, sweet robin! Welcome back! Hello, hello!”
That little robin was such a gift to me. I felt like God declared it my personal holiday with a gift included. It was a day to celebrate and share with others. Without forethought, I found myself telling everyone, “I saw my first robin today!”. It was like wishing all a happy new year. I even posted the good news on Face Book. People’s reactions were similar, a joyous excitement. We shared an unspoken HOPE; that little robin blessed them too.
Thank you God for little robins that speak to us of faith and good things to come. Thank you God for working in my life when I can’t see it or feel it. Thank you God for winters of cold and dark so my springs are even sweeter and more delightful. Thank you God for letting me share my blessings to bless others.
Today I watch the snow swirl outside the window. The ground continues to be a blanket of white. Yet my heart has been changed by the sight of that little robin. It is full of the promise that God is ever faithful.
Faith, the evidence of things not seen. I don’t see them yet, but I know under this snow, tiny bulbs are using stored energy to push up a sprout;
May the Lord bless us with robins as we wait upon Him to work within us, changing our winters into springs.
Isaiah 40:31 MSG “But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.”
